Is it permissible to give Zakah to relatives? Question: Is it permissible to give zakat to your sister if she falls in the criteria? Also other family like aunts and uncles Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. It is not only permissible but more rewarding to give Zakah to siblings and relatives (e.g. aunts and uncles), with the condition that they are truly deserving and are eligible of receiving Zakah. [1] However, it is not permissible for a person to give Zakah to their ascendants (parents and above), descendants (children and below) [2] or spouse. [3]
